High School Field Trip

Today the high school went on a field trip to the General Motors plant in Shanghai. We got a tour of the plant and a brief presentation from a young woman who barely spoke English. The middle schoolers got to go to the Shanghai Aquarium, so we were feeling gipped! It wasn't exactly exciting, but it only took about an hour. After that we got to go to Century Park to spend a few hours. It was a beautiful day and it was nice to get outside. It beat being in school...

My 10th grade homeroom kids patiently waiting for the bus.

Our presentation at General Motors....ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ.

On our way to Century Park. It was a beautiful, sunny day - around 80 degrees...and we weren't in school!

A lot of the kids rented these bikes - some pretty wicked accidents. I was almost run over taking this picture.

Birthday Party

Last weekend we went to the Shangri La buffet (the fancy one that we went to for Thanksgiving) for our friend Brian's birthday. It's like watching a group of homeless people eat - we tore that thing apart. We don't starve by any means, but we never get this kind of food at home, so we take full advantage of it.

Young hooligans on the train back from the Shangri La buffet. Me, Dan Henderson, Tim Kao, and Brian Bates. People just sit back and stare at us. I don't know why...

The female contingent of the Shangri La birthday bash. Bethany (wife of the birthday boy), Molly, Heather, and Mandy.

Die-hard Shark fans supporting the boys' soccer team at their first "home" game. The field at SMIC is too rough to play on, so our home field is at the Johnson and Johnson field about five miles away. A student's mother works at their headquarters and got permission for our school to use the field.
